Napoleon

The museum displays a multitude of objects, mainly from the French army, in an authentic period décor, including the Emperor Napoleon’s cot.

The museum’s scenography allows visitors to better understand the history of this historic place. The emphasis is on the events of the night of 17 to 18 June and on numerous anecdotes from civilian and military life.

A fun trail is offered to children to better understand this decisive moment in history… Special attention is also paid to people with reduced mobility with areas adapted from the reception area, for the visually impaired, hearing impaired and deaf.

The Ligny 1815 Museum is housed in a 17th-century farmhouse that served as an inﬁrmerie on the night of the battle.

Standing in the heart of the battlefield, where 150,000 men fought a fierce battle, the museum space takes you back in time to Friday June 16, 1815, 48 hours before Waterloo.
